Etihad Business Class A380: Impressive Aircraft, Solid Service, and One Great Lounge Perk
If you’re flying between Paris and Abu Dhabi and considering Etihad’s Business Class on the A380, here’s what to expect, the good, the not-so-good, and the standout details that make the journey worthwhile.

First, the aircraft itself: the A380 is always an impressive plane to board. Etihad’s Business Class cabin still feels spacious, with the famous upper-deck configuration that gives you plenty of room to stretch out. However, once settled in, it’s clear the cabin is starting to show its age. The seats, while comfortable enough for a mid-haul flight, feel a bit outdated compared to newer business class products on the market today. A refresh, new upholstery, updated tech, or just a lighter, more modern design, would make a big difference.
The onboard service is solid but not exceptional. The crew is professional and polite, but don’t expect the extra sparkle you might find on other premium Gulf carriers. The food and beverage selection is good, but again, not a showstopper. It does the job, and sometimes that’s all you need when your real priority is rest.

The food onboard is perfectly decent but nothing to rave about. The menu offers a good variety of dishes, usually a choice of Western and Middle Eastern options, and the presentation is neat and well thought out. Portions are generous enough, and you can pair your meal with a solid selection of wines and spirits. However, the flavors and overall experience don’t quite reach the elevated level you might expect from a flagship Gulf carrier, it’s tasty and satisfying, but not especially memorable.

Where Etihad really shines is in its extras. The highlight onboard is the dedicated bar area, a unique A380 feature that’s always fun to experience. It’s a nice spot to stretch your legs mid-flight, have a drink, and chat with fellow travelers if you feel like socializing at 35,000 feet.
But the real standout for me was on the ground: the Etihad Lounge in Abu Dhabi. For travelers with a long layover, this is where Etihad delivers genuine comfort. The lounge itself is spacious and calm, but the best feature by far is the dedicated nap rooms, private, quiet spaces where you can stretch out and sleep for free. No need to hunt for a corner to curl up in, no extra charge for a private suite, just a peaceful place to rest, which makes a huge difference on a long trip.
So, is Etihad’s Business Class on the A380 perfect? Not quite. The cabin could use a refresh, and the inflight service won’t blow you away. But the hard product still holds up well enough, the onboard bar is a fun touch, and that lounge nap room alone makes a layover in Abu Dhabi genuinely relaxing rather than draining.
If you’re connecting through Abu Dhabi and value a quiet place to recharge mid-journey, Etihad’s Business Class still delivers solid value, even if a cabin upgrade would take it from good to great.
